WILTON SOCIAL SERVICES

CT Food Bank Runs                                   Contact:  Wendy Nadel

Time commitment:  3 hrs per trip, every 4-8 weeks (Mon or Tues), depending on number of volunteers

Working in pairs, volunteers drive to the CT Food Bank in Stamford to obtain food, transport items back to the Wilton Food Pantry (Comstock), and restock shelves. 

Ogden House Cooks/ Senior Lunches       Contact: Kris Herlyn

Time commitment:  4-5 hrs,  Wednesday, September 20, plus another date in Spring, date TBD

Volunteers shop for and prepare lunch at Ogden House for approximately 30 Seniors.

Ogden House Hostesses/ Senior Lunches                               Contact: BJ Bralower

Time commitment: 1.5 -2 hrs, 6 Wednesdays per year, depending on number of volunteers

Serve lunch to approximately 30 Seniors.

Thanksgiving Dinner Basket    Contact: Dianne deWitt

Time commitment:  2 hrs, Nov. 16-18

Purchase an item for the WWC Thanksgiving Dinner Basket.  The WWC provides Wilton Social Services with a basket containing everything needed to prepare and serve Thanksgiving Dinner.  Bring your item to the drop off point Nov. 16-18.  

Thanksgiving Dinner Basket - Pantry Help          Contact: Suzy Curtice

Time commitment:  2 hrs, November 19

Volunteers receive donated food baskets at Wilton Food Pantry and organize donations.  Late afternoon volunteers help reorganize Pantry after drop-offs are complete. 

Hot Thanksgiving Meals for the Homebound               Contact: Debbie Corrigan

Time commitment:  2-3 hrs,  Wednesday, November 22                            

Volunteers each prepare a portion of the meal at home, then meet to assemble and wrap individual plates to be delivered to homebound residents.         

Hot Holiday Dinners for the Homebound                      Contact: Kim Horner

Time commitment:  2 hours, morning, Monday, December 24 and/or before 

Volunteers each prepare a portion of the meal at home, then meet to assemble and wrap individual plates to be delivered to homebound residents.

  

PERSON-TO-PERSON (P2P)                      Contact: Catherine Magnano 

Clothing Center

Time commitment: WWC works on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, 9:30-11:30am

Volunteers sort and hang donated clothing, help maintain the Clothing Center, greet donors and clients, issue receipts to donors, assist clients in selecting items.

Location:  1864 Post Rd, Darien

Food Pantry

Time commitment:  WWC works on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, 9:30-11:30am

Volunteers assist clients in selecting food items and restock shelves.

Location:  76 S. Main St, Norwalk

Holiday "Toy Store

Time commitment:  2-3 hr shifts mid-December (dates to be announced)

Volunteers assist clients in choosing gifts for their children, wrap gifts.  Note: Volunteers must be high school age or older.

Location:  1864 Post Rd, Darien


ADOPT-A-SPOT                                               Contact:  Tricia King 

Time Commitment:  30-45 minutes, 3-4 times per year

Volunteers maintain plantings on the WWC plot at Horseshoe Pond.     


JUNIOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM                        Contact:  Visit our webpage here: Junior Leadership

Time Commitment:  1-2 hours, 3-4 times per year

Volunteers help with Hot Meals for Wilton Homebound Residents, and decide on other community projects where they want to help.
